Azbell Electronics receives the Finalist Award from Baylor University |
WACO, Texas - November 15, 2007 - The Texas Family Business of the Year program is presented annually by the Institute for Family Business, as part of the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University. Family businesses from across the state were honored at the 18th Annual Texas Family Business of the Year Awards Banquet, November 15, 2007, at the Baylor University campus.
The Institute for Family Business hosts this annual award to recognize and honor family businesses that show concern for their family and its role in the business and community. They also acknowledge business contributions to their industry and their community and are role models for the family in business. Winners were chosen in three general categories - large (more than 151 employees), medium (51 – 150 employees), and small (50 or fewer employees). Outstanding firms are also honored in the special categories of Family Values Award, Community Commitment Award, Fastest-Growing Family Business Award, Well-Managed Family Business Award, Founders Award, and Heritage Award. Also awarded are seven finalists, while not being a winner, are regarded high enough with the judges to be named as finalists. Judges for the Annual Texas Family Business of the Year award have expertise in family business, by heading successful companies or teaching family business. “Starting, owning and operating a family business is the foundation of the American Dream,” said J. David Allen, director of the John F. Bough Center for Entrepreneurship at Baylor’s Hankamer School of business. “It is our privilege to honor the dedicated, hard-working risk-takers in the state of Texas who contribute so much to our economic and social well-being.” Azbell Electronics received the finalist award in the medium business category. They were represented at the award ceremony by Billy and Faye Azbell, Pam Craven, and Helen Azbell Crocker. Billy Azbell Sr. founded the company in 1945, at the close of World War II. From this modest beginning in radio and television repair sprang a company with some of the most highly skilled audio sound and visual technicians in the country. Azbell Electronics has provided superior service in the area of custom and professional audio, video and electronics since its inception. We serve three distinct markets which include the general public, schools and churches, department of Defense needs and the athletic coaches’ community. |
