Northrop Grumman and Azbell Electronics team up to provide a turn-key solution for the Texas National Guard

FORT HOOD, TX — March 31, 2007 — After the days of 9/11 and the natural disasters of Hurricane Katrina and Rita, the Texas National Guard identified a need for a Mobile Command Center which would allow them to become the 1st Responder in any situation. Northrop Grumman and Azbell Electronics, both specializing in mobile military command centers, created a team that provided a quickly deployable, turn-key solution.

“They needed a vehicle not commercially available in the market, one equipped with specialized communications gear that would withstand rugged environments” stated Charles Craven, Vice President of Operations at Azbell Electronics, “our company has worked along side many military units integrating equipment into deployable vehicles, our experience made us confident that we would provide a turn key solution for the Texas National Guard.”

Kingsley Coach, Inc., out of Minnesota built the custom 45-foot vehicle and Azbell Electronics, at Fort Hood, Texas, installed and integrated all communications and technology equipment turning this vehicle into a rugged and versatile Mobile Command and Control Center. Azbell Electronics incorporated 12 workstations, one 6’, 44 rack unit equipment rack, a 50” plasma display screen, VGA switching capabilities with PC feeds for display, a stand-alone cell base station, VHF, UHF, HF Radio and SatCom phones, 20kW generator, storage compartments, lavatory and galley.

The Texas National Guard now has the capabilities to be the 1st Responder on the scene of any major situation. The new mobile command center will allow for command and control, situational awareness, communication and interoperability with any local, state, federal or military units and communications systems.
