The world is a far different place than it was when Billy Azbell Sr. opened his Waco radio sales and repair shop 61 years ago.
Azbell set up his first shop in his garage in 1945, in a bid to capitalize on a growing demand for home entertainment during boom years following World War II. Now the United States is in the midst of a “war on terror,” and Azbell Electronics employees have traveled to the war zone, helping the Army with a variety of technical needs. |

FORT HOOD, TX - August 23, 2006 - On a hot Central Texas Tarmac, a team of highly-trained professionals quietly gathered to conduct a final inspection of their gear before deploying to Iraq. This seven man team is prepared for a year-long separation from their families and friends in order to provide specialized support to the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)– a Major Subordinate Command of US Army III Corps and one of only 3 units in the Army to provide the top level of logistical support. Azbell Electronics has previously deployed to Iraq on three occasions in support of the global war on terrorism. The first overseas deployment in 2003 sent two teams which provided support along side 13th COSCOM as well as the 1st Cavalry Division.

13th SC(E) Obtains NETOPS Shelter |

The 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) accepted delivery and placed into operation a Voice, Video, and Data Network Operations (NETOPS) Shelter from Azbell Electronics May 10, in a short ceremony outside the SC(E) G-6 Annex building on Santa Fe Road.
Col. Christine Gayagas, deputy commanding officer of the SC(E), received the key to the NETOPS Shelter from Billy Azbell, owner and president of Azbell Electronics, the company who put the NETOPS Shelter together.
